Synapse

This guide helps you configure a connection to Azure Synapse Analytics so you can securely query and ingest data from your Synapse workspace into Neo.

Getting Started

To set up the connection, you’ll need:

  • Your Synapse server host

  • Target database and schema

  • A username and password

Connection Details

Here’s a breakdown of what each field means and how to fill it:

1. Name

A unique name to identify your Synapse source within DataChannel.

This is how you’ll recognize the source later when managing multiple sources.

Example:

  • synapse-prod

  • azure-datawarehouse

  • marketing-synapse

This name must be unique across all your sources.

2. Host

The fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of your Synapse server.

Example: your-synapse.sql.azuresynapse.net

3. Database

The name of the SQL pool (database) you want to connect to.

4. Schema

The default schema to use within the selected database.

Example: dbo, marketing, events

Authentication Options

Azure Synapse supports Standard Username & Password authentication.

Standard Authentication

Use this if your database uses a username and password for login.

Provide the following credentials:

User:

The login username for your Synapse SQL pool.

Example: data_reader, synapse_admin

Password:

The associated password.

This will be securely masked in the UI.

Ensure that the user has access to the database and schema you specify.
